  7. TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR USE, REPRODUCTION, AND DISTRIBUTION
  8. 1. Definitions.
  9. "License" shall mean the terms and conditions for use, reproduction,
  10. and distribution as defined by Sections 1 through 9 of this document.
  11. "Licensor" shall mean the copyright owner or entity authorized by
  12. the copyright owner that is granting the License.
  13. "Legal Entity" shall mean the union of the acting entity and all
  14. other entities that control, are controlled by, or are under common
  15. control with that entity. For the purposes of this definition,
  16. "control" means (i) the power, direct or indirect, to cause the
  17. direction or management of such entity, whether by contract or
  18. otherwise, or (ii) ownership of fifty percent (50%) or more of the
  19. outstanding shares, or (iii) beneficial ownership of such entity.
  20. "You" (or "Your") shall mean an individual or Legal Entity
  21. exercising permissions granted by this License.
  22. "Source" form shall mean the preferred form for making modifications,
  23. including but not limited to software source code, documentation
  24. source, and configuration files.
  25. "Object" form shall mean any form resulting from mechanical
  26. transformation or translation of a Source form, including but
  27. not limited to compiled object code, generated documentation,
  28. and conversions to other media types.
  29. "Work" shall mean the work of authorship, whether in Source or
  30. Object form, made available under the License, as indicated by a
  31. copyright notice that is included in or attached to the work
  32. (an example is provided in the Appendix below).
  33. "Derivative Works" shall mean any work, whether in Source or Object
  34. form, that is based on (or derived from) the Work and for which the
  35. editorial revisions, annotations, elaborations, or other modifications
  36. represent, as a whole, an original work of authorship. For the purposes
  37. of this License, Derivative Works shall not include works that remain
  38. separable from, or merely link (or bind by name) to the interfaces of,
  39. the Work and Derivative Works thereof.
  40. "Contribution" shall mean any work of authorship, including
  41. the original version of the Work and any modifications or additions
  42. to that Work or Derivative Works thereof, that is intentionally
  43. submitted to Licensor for inclusion in the Work by the copyright owner
  44. or by an individual or Legal Entity authorized to submit on behalf of
  45. the copyright owner. For the purposes of this definition, "submitted"
  46. means any form of electronic, verbal, or written communication sent
  47. to the Licensor or its representatives, including but not limited to
  48. communication on electronic mailing lists, source code control systems,
  49. and issue tracking systems that are managed by, or on behalf of, the
  50. Licensor for the purpose of discussing and improving the Work, but
  51. excluding communication that is conspicuously marked or otherwise
  52. designated in writing by the copyright owner as "Not a Contribution."
  53. "Contributor" shall mean Licensor and any individual or Legal Entity
  54. on behalf of whom a Contribution has been received by Licensor and
  55. subsequently incorporated within the Work.
  56. 2. Grant of Copyright License. Subject to the terms and conditions of
  57. this License, each Contributor hereby grants to You a perpetual,
  58. worldwide, non-exclusive, no-charge, royalty-free, irrevocable
  59. copyright license to reproduce, prepare Derivative Works of,
  60. publicly display, publicly perform, sublicense, and distribute the
  61. Work and such Derivative Works in Source or Object form.
  62. 3. Grant of Patent License. Subject to the terms and conditions of
  63. this License, each Contributor hereby grants to You a perpetual,
  64. worldwide, non-exclusive, no-charge, royalty-free, irrevocable
  65. (except as stated in this section) patent license to make, have made,
  66. use, offer to sell, sell, import, and otherwise transfer the Work,
  67. where such license applies only to those patent claims licensable
  68. by such Contributor that are necessarily infringed by their
  69. Contribution(s) alone or by combination of their Contribution(s)
  70. with the Work to which such Contribution(s) was submitted. If You
  71. institute patent litigation against any entity (including a
  72. cross-claim or counterclaim in a lawsuit) alleging that the Work
  73. or a Contribution incorporated within the Work constitutes direct
  74. or contributory patent infringement, then any patent licenses
  75. granted to You under this License for that Work shall terminate
  76. as of the date such litigation is filed.
  77. 4. Redistribution. You may reproduce and distribute copies of the
  78. Work or Derivative Works thereof in any medium, with or without
  79. modifications, and in Source or Object form, provided that You
  80. meet the following conditions:
  81. (a) You must give any other recipients of the Work or
  82. Derivative Works a copy of this License; and
  83. (b) You must cause any modified files to carry prominent notices
  84. stating that You changed the files; and
  85. (c) You must retain, in the Source form of any Derivative Works
  86. that You distribute, all copyright, patent, trademark, and
  87. attribution notices from the Source form of the Work,
  88. excluding those notices that do not pertain to any part of
  89. the Derivative Works; and
  90. (d) If the Work includes a "NOTICE" text file as part of its
  91. distribution, then any Derivative Works that You distribute must
  92. include a readable copy of the attribution notices contained
  93. within such NOTICE file, excluding those notices that do not
  94. pertain to any part of the Derivative Works, in at least one
  95. of the following places: within a NOTICE text file distributed
  96. as part of the Derivative Works; within the Source form or
  97. documentation, if provided along with the Derivative Works; or,
  98. within a display generated by the Derivative Works, if and
  99. wherever such third-party notices normally appear. The contents
  100. of the NOTICE file are for informational purposes only and
  101. do not modify the License. You may add Your own attribution
  102. notices within Derivative Works that You distribute, alongside
  103. or as an addendum to the NOTICE text from the Work, provided
  104. that such additional attribution notices cannot be construed
  105. as modifying the License.
  106. You may add Your own copyright statement to Your modifications and
  107. may provide additional or different license terms and conditions
  108. for use, reproduction, or distribution of Your modifications, or
  109. for any such Derivative Works as a whole, provided Your use,
  110. reproduction, and distribution of the Work otherwise complies with
  111. the conditions stated in this License.
  112. 5. Submission of Contributions. Unless You explicitly state otherwise,
  113. any Contribution intentionally submitted for inclusion in the Work
  114. by You to the Licensor shall be under the terms and conditions of
  115. this License, without any additional terms or conditions.
  116. Notwithstanding the above, nothing herein shall supersede or modify
  117. the terms of any separate license agreement you may have executed
  118. with Licensor regarding such Contributions.
  119. 6. Trademarks. This License does not grant permission to use the trade
  120. names, trademarks, service marks, or product names of the Licensor,
  121. except as required for reasonable and customary use in describing the
  122. origin of the Work and reproducing the content of the NOTICE file.
  123. 7. Disclaimer of Warranty. Unless required by applicable law or
  124. agreed to in writing, Licensor provides the Work (and each
  125. Contributor provides its Contributions) on an "AS IS" BASIS,
  126. WITHOUT WARRANTIES OR CONDITIONS OF ANY KIND, either express or
  127. implied, including, without limitation, any warranties or conditions
  128. of TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, MERCHANTABILITY, or FITNESS FOR A
  129. PARTICULAR PURPOSE. You are solely responsible for determining the
  130. appropriateness of using or redistributing the Work and assume any
  131. risks associated with Your exercise of permissions under this License.
  132. 8. Limitation of Liability. In no event and under no legal theory,
  133. whether in tort (including negligence), contract, or otherwise,
  134. unless required by applicable law (such as deliberate and grossly
  135. negligent acts) or agreed to in writing, shall any Contributor be
  136. liable to You for damages, including any direct, indirect, special,
  137. incidental, or consequential damages of any character arising as a
  138. result of this License or out of the use or inability to use the
  139. Work (including but not limited to damages for loss of goodwill,
  140. work stoppage, computer failure or malfunction, or any and all
  141. other commercial damages or losses), even if such Contributor
  142. has been advised of the possibility of such damages.
  143. 9. Accepting Warranty or Additional Liability. While redistributing
  144. the Work or Derivative Works thereof, You may choose to offer,
  145. and charge a fee for, acceptance of support, warranty, indemnity,
  146. or other liability obligations and/or rights consistent with this
  147. License. However, in accepting such obligations, You may act only
  148. on Your own behalf and on Your sole responsibility, not on behalf
  149. of any other Contributor, and only if You agree to indemnify,
  150. defend, and hold each Contributor harmless for any liability
  151. incurred by, or claims asserted against, such Contributor by reason
  152. of your accepting any such warranty or additional liability.

  424. Linden Research, Inc. ("Linden Lab") Viewer FLOSS License Exception v0.5
  425. The Linden Lab Exception for Free/Libre and Open Source Software-only
  426. Applications Using Linden Lab Viewer Software (the "FLOSS Exception").
  427. Exception Intent
  428. Linden Lab is releasing the source code for certain software that
  429. enables users to view or otherwise access the Second Life virtual
  430. world environment (the "Viewer Software"), under version 2 of the GNU
  431. General Public License (the "GPL"). The creation or distribution of
  432. works based on the Program (as defined under the GPL) of the Viewer
  433. Software may require the use of certain Free/Libre and Open Source
  434. Software ("FLOSS") works that are subject to license agreements not
  435. compatible with re-licensing under the GPL. Because we want to allow
  436. the Viewer Software to be distributed with these FLOSS works, this
  437. FLOSS Exception following exception applies subject to the terms and
  438. conditions below.
  439. Legal Terms and Conditions
  440. As a special exception to the terms and conditions of version 2.0 of
  441. the GPL:
  442. You are free to distribute a work based on the Program that is formed
  443. entirely from the Viewer Software (and any modifications thereof) and
  444. one or more works that are independent and separate works not derived
  445. from the Viewer Software, and are licensed under one or more of the
  446. licenses listed below in section 1 (each, a "FLOSS Work") , as long
  447. as:
  448. A. You obey the GPL in all respects for the Viewer Software and any
  449. work based on the Program, except for the FLOSS Works, for which
  450. you must comply with B below,
  451. B. all FLOSS Works,
  452. i. are distributed subject to one of the FLOSS licenses
  453. listed below, and
  454. ii. the object code or executable form of the FLOSS Works are
  455. accompanied by the complete corresponding
  456. machine-readable source code for those FLOSS Works on the
  457. same medium and under the same FLOSS license as the
  458. corresponding object code or executable forms thereof,
  459. and
  460. C. any works that are aggregated with the Viewer Software or a work
  461. based on the Program on a volume of a storage or distribution
  462. medium in accordance with the GPL, and are not licensed under
  463. the FLOSS licenses listed below, are independent and separate
  464. works in themselves which are not derivatives of either the
  465. Viewer Software, a work based on the Program or a FLOSS Work.
  466. If the above conditions are not met, then the Viewer Software may only
  467. be copied, modified, distributed or used under the terms and
  468. conditions of the GPL or another valid licensing option from Linden
  469. Lab.

  659. The FreeType 2 font engine is copyrighted work and cannot be used
  660. legally without a software license. In order to make this project
  661. usable to a vast majority of developers, we distribute it under two
  662. mutually exclusive open-source licenses.
  663. This means that *you* must choose *one* of the two licenses described
  664. below, then obey all its terms and conditions when using FreeType 2 in
  665. any of your projects or products.
  666. - The FreeType License, found in the file `FTL.TXT', which is similar
  667. to the original BSD license *with* an advertising clause that forces
  668. you to explicitly cite the FreeType project in your product's
  669. documentation. All details are in the license file. This license
  670. is suited to products which don't use the GNU General Public
  671. License.
  672. - The GNU General Public License version 2, found in `GPL.TXT' (any
  673. later version can be used also), for programs which already use the
  674. GPL. Note that the FTL is incompatible with the GPL due to its
  675. advertisement clause.
  676. The contributed PCF driver comes with a license similar to that of the X
  677. Window System. It is compatible to the above two licenses (see file
  678. src/pcf/readme).

  801. GNU GENERAL PUBLIC LICENSE
  802. Version 2, June 1991
  803. Copyright (C) 1989, 1991 Free Software Foundation, Inc.,
  804. 51 Franklin Street, Fifth Floor, Boston, MA 02110-1301 USA
  805. Everyone is permitted to copy and distribute verbatim copies
  806. of this license document, but changing it is not allowed.
  807. Preamble
  808. The licenses for most software are designed to take away your
  809. freedom to share and change it. By contrast, the GNU General Public
  810. License is intended to guarantee your freedom to share and change free
  811. software--to make sure the software is free for all its users. This
  812. General Public License applies to most of the Free Software
  813. Foundation's software and to any other program whose authors commit to
  814. using it. (Some other Free Software Foundation software is covered by
  815. the GNU Lesser General Public License instead.) You can apply it to
  816. your programs, too.
  817. When we speak of free software, we are referring to freedom, not
  818. price. Our General Public Licenses are designed to make sure that you
  819. have the freedom to distribute copies of free software (and charge for
  820. this service if you wish), that you receive source code or can get it
  821. if you want it, that you can change the software or use pieces of it
  822. in new free programs; and that you know you can do these things.
  823. To protect your rights, we need to make restrictions that forbid
  824. anyone to deny you these rights or to ask you to surrender the rights.
  825. These restrictions translate to certain responsibilities for you if you
  826. distribute copies of the software, or if you modify it.
  827. For example, if you distribute copies of such a program, whether
  828. gratis or for a fee, you must give the recipients all the rights that
  829. you have. You must make sure that they, too, receive or can get the
  830. source code. And you must show them these terms so they know their
  831. rights.
  832. We protect your rights with two steps: (1) copyright the software, and
  833. (2) offer you this license which gives you legal permission to copy,
  834. distribute and/or modify the software.
  835. Also, for each author's protection and ours, we want to make certain
  836. that everyone understands that there is no warranty for this free
  837. software. If the software is modified by someone else and passed on, we
  838. want its recipients to know that what they have is not the original, so
  839. that any problems introduced by others will not reflect on the original
  840. authors' reputations.
  841. Finally, any free program is threatened constantly by software
  842. patents. We wish to avoid the danger that redistributors of a free
  843. program will individually obtain patent licenses, in effect making the
  844. program proprietary. To prevent this, we have made it clear that any
  845. patent must be licensed for everyone's free use or not licensed at all.
  846. The precise terms and conditions for copying, distribution and
  847. modification follow.
  848. GNU GENERAL PUBLIC LICENSE
  849. TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR COPYING, DISTRIBUTION AND MODIFICATION
  850. 0. This License applies to any program or other work which contains
  851. a notice placed by the copyright holder saying it may be distributed
  852. under the terms of this General Public License. The "Program", below,
  853. refers to any such program or work, and a "work based on the Program"
  854. means either the Program or any derivative work under copyright law:
  855. that is to say, a work containing the Program or a portion of it,
  856. either verbatim or with modifications and/or translated into another
  857. language. (Hereinafter, translation is included without limitation in
  858. the term "modification".) Each licensee is addressed as "you".
  859. Activities other than copying, distribution and modification are not
  860. covered by this License; they are outside its scope. The act of
  861. running the Program is not restricted, and the output from the Program
  862. is covered only if its contents constitute a work based on the
  863. Program (independent of having been made by running the Program).
  864. Whether that is true depends on what the Program does.
  865. 1. You may copy and distribute verbatim copies of the Program's
  866. source code as you receive it, in any medium, provided that you
  867. conspicuously and appropriately publish on each copy an appropriate
  868. copyright notice and disclaimer of warranty; keep intact all the
  869. notices that refer to this License and to the absence of any warranty;
  870. and give any other recipients of the Program a copy of this License
  871. along with the Program.
  872. You may charge a fee for the physical act of transferring a copy, and
  873. you may at your option offer warranty protection in exchange for a fee.
  874. 2. You may modify your copy or copies of the Program or any portion
  875. of it, thus forming a work based on the Program, and copy and
  876. distribute such modifications or work under the terms of Section 1
  877. above, provided that you also meet all of these conditions:
  878. a) You must cause the modified files to carry prominent notices
  879. stating that you changed the files and the date of any change.
  880. b) You must cause any work that you distribute or publish, that in
  881. whole or in part contains or is derived from the Program or any
  882. part thereof, to be licensed as a whole at no charge to all third
  883. parties under the terms of this License.
  884. c) If the modified program normally reads commands interactively
  885. when run, you must cause it, when started running for such
  886. interactive use in the most ordinary way, to print or display an
  887. announcement including an appropriate copyright notice and a
  888. notice that there is no warranty (or else, saying that you provide
  889. a warranty) and that users may redistribute the program under
  890. these conditions, and telling the user how to view a copy of this
  891. License. (Exception: if the Program itself is interactive but
  892. does not normally print such an announcement, your work based on
  893. the Program is not required to print an announcement.)
  894. These requirements apply to the modified work as a whole. If
  895. identifiable sections of that work are not derived from the Program,
  896. and can be reasonably considered independent and separate works in
  897. themselves, then this License, and its terms, do not apply to those
  898. sections when you distribute them as separate works. But when you
  899. distribute the same sections as part of a whole which is a work based
  900. on the Program, the distribution of the whole must be on the terms of
  901. this License, whose permissions for other licensees extend to the
  902. entire whole, and thus to each and every part regardless of who wrote it.
  903. Thus, it is not the intent of this section to claim rights or contest
  904. your rights to work written entirely by you; rather, the intent is to
  905. exercise the right to control the distribution of derivative or
  906. collective works based on the Program.
  907. In addition, mere aggregation of another work not based on the Program
  908. with the Program (or with a work based on the Program) on a volume of
  909. a storage or distribution medium does not bring the other work under
  910. the scope of this License.
  911. 3. You may copy and distribute the Program (or a work based on it,
  912. under Section 2) in object code or executable form under the terms of
  913. Sections 1 and 2 above provided that you also do one of the following:
  914. a) Accompany it with the complete corresponding machine-readable
  915. source code, which must be distributed under the terms of Sections
  916. 1 and 2 above on a medium customarily used for software interchange; or,
  917. b) Accompany it with a written offer, valid for at least three
  918. years, to give any third party, for a charge no more than your
  919. cost of physically performing source distribution, a complete
  920. machine-readable copy of the corresponding source code, to be
  921. distributed under the terms of Sections 1 and 2 above on a medium
  922. customarily used for software interchange; or,
  923. c) Accompany it with the information you received as to the offer
  924. to distribute corresponding source code. (This alternative is
  925. allowed only for noncommercial distribution and only if you
  926. received the program in object code or executable form with such
  927. an offer, in accord with Subsection b above.)
  928. The source code for a work means the preferred form of the work for
  929. making modifications to it. For an executable work, complete source
  930. code means all the source code for all modules it contains, plus any
  931. associated interface definition files, plus the scripts used to
  932. control compilation and installation of the executable. However, as a
  933. special exception, the source code distributed need not include
  934. anything that is normally distributed (in either source or binary
  935. form) with the major components (compiler, kernel, and so on) of the
  936. operating system on which the executable runs, unless that component
  937. itself accompanies the executable.
  938. If distribution of executable or object code is made by offering
  939. access to copy from a designated place, then offering equivalent
  940. access to copy the source code from the same place counts as
  941. distribution of the source code, even though third parties are not
  942. compelled to copy the source along with the object code.
  943. 4. You may not copy, modify, sublicense, or distribute the Program
  944. except as expressly provided under this License. Any attempt
  945. otherwise to copy, modify, sublicense or distribute the Program is
  946. void, and will automatically terminate your rights under this License.
  947. However, parties who have received copies, or rights, from you under
  948. this License will not have their licenses terminated so long as such
  949. parties remain in full compliance.
  950. 5. You are not required to accept this License, since you have not
  951. signed it. However, nothing else grants you permission to modify or
  952. distribute the Program or its derivative works. These actions are
  953. prohibited by law if you do not accept this License. Therefore, by
  954. modifying or distributing the Program (or any work based on the
  955. Program), you indicate your acceptance of this License to do so, and
  956. all its terms and conditions for copying, distributing or modifying
  957. the Program or works based on it.
  958. 6. Each time you redistribute the Program (or any work based on the
  959. Program), the recipient automatically receives a license from the
  960. original licensor to copy, distribute or modify the Program subject to
  961. these terms and conditions. You may not impose any further
  962. restrictions on the recipients' exercise of the rights granted herein.
  963. You are not responsible for enforcing compliance by third parties to
  964. this License.
  965. 7. If, as a consequence of a court judgment or allegation of patent
  966. infringement or for any other reason (not limited to patent issues),
  967. conditions are imposed on you (whether by court order, agreement or
  968. otherwise) that contradict the conditions of this License, they do not
  969. excuse you from the conditions of this License. If you cannot
  970. distribute so as to satisfy simultaneously your obligations under this
  971. License and any other pertinent obligations, then as a consequence you
  972. may not distribute the Program at all. For example, if a patent
  973. license would not permit royalty-free redistribution of the Program by
  974. all those who receive copies directly or indirectly through you, then
  975. the only way you could satisfy both it and this License would be to
  976. refrain entirely from distribution of the Program.
  977. If any portion of this section is held invalid or unenforceable under
  978. any particular circumstance, the balance of the section is intended to
  979. apply and the section as a whole is intended to apply in other
  980. circumstances.
  981. It is not the purpose of this section to induce you to infringe any
  982. patents or other property right claims or to contest validity of any
  983. such claims; this section has the sole purpose of protecting the
  984. integrity of the free software distribution system, which is
  985. implemented by public license practices. Many people have made
  986. generous contributions to the wide range of software distributed
  987. through that system in reliance on consistent application of that
  988. system; it is up to the author/donor to decide if he or she is willing
  989. to distribute software through any other system and a licensee cannot
  990. impose that choice.
  991. This section is intended to make thoroughly clear what is believed to
  992. be a consequence of the rest of this License.
  993. 8. If the distribution and/or use of the Program is restricted in
  994. certain countries either by patents or by copyrighted interfaces, the
  995. original copyright holder who places the Program under this License
  996. may add an explicit geographical distribution limitation excluding
  997. those countries, so that distribution is permitted only in or among
  998. countries not thus excluded. In such case, this License incorporates
  999. the limitation as if written in the body of this License.
1000. 9. The Free Software Foundation may publish revised and/or new versions
1001. of the General Public License from time to time. Such new versions will
1002. be similar in spirit to the present version, but may differ in detail to
1003. address new problems or concerns.
1004. Each version is given a distinguishing version number. If the Program
1005. specifies a version number of this License which applies to it and "any
1006. later version", you have the option of following the terms and conditions
1007. either of that version or of any later version published by the Free
1008. Software Foundation. If the Program does not specify a version number of
1009. this License, you may choose any version ever published by the Free Software
  1010. Foundation.
1011. 10. If you wish to incorporate parts of the Program into other free
1012. programs whose distribution conditions are different, write to the author
1013. to ask for permission. For software which is copyrighted by the Free
1014. Software Foundation, write to the Free Software Foundation; we sometimes
1015. make exceptions for this. Our decision will be guided by the two goals
1016. of preserving the free status of all derivatives of our free software and
1017. of promoting the sharing and reuse of software generally.
  1018. NO WARRANTY
1019. 11. BECAUSE THE PROGRAM IS LICENSED FREE OF CHARGE, THERE IS NO WARRANTY
1020. FOR THE PROGRAM, TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW. EXCEPT WHEN
1021. OTHERWISE STATED IN WRITING THE COPYRIGHT HOLDERS AND/OR OTHER PARTIES
1022. PROVIDE THE PROGRAM "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESSED
1023. OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF
1024. MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. THE ENTIRE RISK AS
1025. TO THE QUALITY AND PERFORMANCE OF THE PROGRAM IS WITH YOU. SHOULD THE
1026. PROGRAM PROVE DEFECTIVE, YOU ASSUME THE COST OF ALL NECESSARY SERVICING,
  1027. REPAIR OR CORRECTION.
1028. 12. IN NO EVENT UNLESS REQUIRED BY APPLICABLE LAW OR AGREED TO IN WRITING
1029. WILL ANY COPYRIGHT HOLDER, OR ANY OTHER PARTY WHO MAY MODIFY AND/OR
1030. REDISTRIBUTE THE PROGRAM AS PERMITTED ABOVE, BE LIABLE TO YOU FOR DAMAGES,
1031. INCLUDING ANY GENERAL, SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING
1032. OUT OF THE USE OR INABILITY TO USE THE PROGRAM (INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED
1033. TO LOSS OF DATA OR DATA BEING RENDERED INACCURATE OR LOSSES SUSTAINED BY
1034. YOU OR THIRD PARTIES OR A FAILURE OF THE PROGRAM TO OPERATE WITH ANY OTHER
1035. PROGRAMS), EVEN IF SUCH HOLDER OR OTHER PARTY HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE
  1036. POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
1037. END OF TERMS AND CONDITIONS
1038. How to Apply These Terms to Your New Programs
1039. If you develop a new program, and you want it to be of the greatest
1040. possible use to the public, the best way to achieve this is to make it
1041. free software which everyone can redistribute and change under these terms.
1042. To do so, attach the following notices to the program. It is safest
1043. to attach them to the start of each source file to most effectively
1044. convey the exclusion of warranty; and each file should have at least
1045. the "copyright" line and a pointer to where the full notice is found.
1046. <one line to give the program's name and a brief idea of what it does.>
  1047. Copyright (C) <year> <name of author>
1048. This program is free software; you can redistribute it and/or modify
1049. it under the terms of the GNU General Public License as published by
1050. the Free Software Foundation; either version 2 of the License, or
1051. (at your option) any later version.
1052. This program is distributed in the hope that it will be useful,
1053. but WITHOUT ANY WARRANTY; without even the implied warranty of
1054. MERCHANTABILITY or FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. See the
1055. GNU General Public License for more details.
1056. You should have received a copy of the GNU General Public License along
1057. with this program; if not, write to the Free Software Foundation, Inc.,
1058. 51 Franklin Street, Fifth Floor, Boston, MA 02110-1301 USA.
1059. Also add information on how to contact you by electronic and paper mail.
1060. If the program is interactive, make it output a short notice like this
1061. when it starts in an interactive mode:
1062. Gnomovision version 69, Copyright (C) year name of author
1063. Gnomovision comes with ABSOLUTELY NO WARRANTY; for details type `show w'.
1064. This is free software, and you are welcome to redistribute it
1065. under certain conditions; type `show c' for details.
1066. The hypothetical commands `show w' and `show c' should show the appropriate
1067. parts of the General Public License. Of course, the commands you use may
1068. be called something other than `show w' and `show c'; they could even be
1069. mouse-clicks or menu items--whatever suits your program.
1070. You should also get your employer (if you work as a programmer) or your
1071. school, if any, to sign a "copyright disclaimer" for the program, if
1072. necessary. Here is a sample; alter the names:
1073. Yoyodyne, Inc., hereby disclaims all copyright interest in the program
1074. `Gnomovision' (which makes passes at compilers) written by James Hacker.
  1075. <signature of Ty Coon>, 1 April 1989
1076. Ty Coon, President of Vice
1077. This General Public License does not permit incorporating your program into
1078. proprietary programs. If your program is a subroutine library, you may
1079. consider it more useful to permit linking proprietary applications with the
1080. library. If this is what you want to do, use the GNU Lesser General
1081. Public License instead of this License.

  1087. Version 3, 29 June 2007
  1088. Copyright (C) 2007 Free Software Foundation, Inc. <http://fsf.org/>
1089. Everyone is permitted to copy and distribute verbatim copies of this license document, but changing it is not allowed.
1090. This version of the GNU Lesser General Public License incorporates the terms and conditions of version 3 of the GNU General Public License, supplemented by the additional permissions listed below.
  1091. 0. Additional Definitions.
1092. As used herein, .this License. refers to version 3 of the GNU Lesser General Public License, and the .GNU GPL. refers to version 3 of the GNU General Public License.
1093. .The Library. refers to a covered work governed by this License, other than an Application or a Combined Work as defined below.
1094. An .Application. is any work that makes use of an interface provided by the Library, but which is not otherwise based on the Library. Defining a subclass of a class defined by the Library is deemed a mode of using an interface provided by the Library.
1095. A .Combined Work. is a work produced by combining or linking an Application with the Library. The particular version of the Library with which the Combined Work was made is also called the .Linked Version..
1096. The .Minimal Corresponding Source. for a Combined Work means the Corresponding Source for the Combined Work, excluding any source code for portions of the Combined Work that, considered in isolation, are based on the Application, and not on the Linked Version.
1097. The .Corresponding Application Code. for a Combined Work means the object code and/or source code for the Application, including any data and utility programs needed for reproducing the Combined Work from the Application, but excluding the System Libraries of the Combined Work.
1098. 1. Exception to Section 3 of the GNU GPL.
1099. You may convey a covered work under sections 3 and 4 of this License without
1100. being bound by section 3 of the GNU GPL.
  1101. 2. Conveying Modified Versions.
1102. If you modify a copy of the Library, and, in your modifications, a facility
1103. refers to a function or data to be supplied by an Application that uses the
1104. facility (other than as an argument passed when the facility is invoked), then
1105. you may convey a copy of the modified version:
1106. a) under this License, provided that you make a good faith effort to ensure
1107. that, in the event an Application does not supply the function or data,
1108. the facility still operates, and performs whatever part of its purpose
  1109. remains meaningful, or
1110. b) under the GNU GPL, with none of the additional permissions of this License
  1111. applicable to that copy.
1112. 3. Object Code Incorporating Material from Library Header Files.
1113. The object code form of an Application may incorporate material from a header
1114. file that is part of the Library. You may convey such object code under terms
1115. of your choice, provided that, if the incorporated material is not limited to
1116. numerical parameters, data structure layouts and accessors, or small macros,
1117. inline functions and templates (ten or fewer lines in length), you do both of
  1118. the following:
1119. a) Give prominent notice with each copy of the object code that the Library is
1120. used in it and that the Library and its use are covered by this License.
1121. b) Accompany the object code with a copy of the GNU GPL and this license
  1122. document.
  1123. 4. Combined Works.
1124. You may convey a Combined Work under terms of your choice that, taken together,
1125. effectively do not restrict modification of the portions of the Library
1126. contained in the Combined Work and reverse engineering for debugging such
1127. modifications, if you also do each of the following:
1128. a) Give prominent notice with each copy of the Combined Work that the Library
1129. is used in it and that the Library and its use are covered by this License.
1130. b) Accompany the Combined Work with a copy of the GNU GPL and this license
  1131. document.
1132. c) For a Combined Work that displays copyright notices during execution,
1133. include the copyright notice for the Library among these notices, as well
1134. as a reference directing the user to the copies of the GNU GPL and this
  1135. license document.
1136. d) Do one of the following:
1137. 0) Convey the Minimal Corresponding Source under the terms of this License,
1138. and the Corresponding Application Code in a form suitable for, and under
1139. terms that permit, the user to recombine or relink the Application with
1140. a modified version of the Linked Version to produce a modified Combined
1141. Work, in the manner specified by section 6 of the GNU GPL for conveying
  1142. Corresponding Source.
1143. 1) Use a suitable shared library mechanism for linking with the Library. A
1144. suitable mechanism is one that (a) uses at run time a copy of the Library
1145. already present on the user's computer system, and (b) will operate
1146. properly with a modified version of the Library that is interface-
1147. compatible with the Linked Version.
1148. e) Provide Installation Information, but only if you would otherwise be
1149. required to provide such information under section 6 of the GNU GPL, and
1150. only to the extent that such information is necessary to install and execute
1151. a modified version of the Combined Work produced by recombining or relinking
1152. the Application with a modified version of the Linked Version. (If you use
1153. option 4d0, the Installation Information must accompany the Minimal
1154. Corresponding Source and Corresponding Application Code. If you use option
1155. 4d1, you must provide the Installation Information in the manner specified
1156. by section 6 of the GNU GPL for conveying Corresponding Source.)
  1157. 5. Combined Libraries.
1158. You may place library facilities that are a work based on the Library side by
1159. side in a single library together with other library facilities that are not
1160. Applications and are not covered by this License, and convey such a combined
1161. library under terms of your choice, if you do both of the following:
1162. a) Accompany the combined library with a copy of the same work based on the
1163. Library, uncombined with any other library facilities, conveyed under the
  1164. terms of this License.
1165. b) Give prominent notice with the combined library that part of it is a work
1166. based on the Library, and explaining where to find the accompanying
1167. uncombined form of the same work.
1168. 6. Revised Versions of the GNU Lesser General Public License.
1169. The Free Software Foundation may publish revised and/or new versions of the
1170. GNU Lesser General Public License from time to time. Such new versions will
1171. be similar in spirit to the present version, but may differ in detail to
1172. address new problems or concerns.
1173. Each version is given a distinguishing version number. If the Library as you
1174. received it specifies that a certain numbered version of the GNU Lesser
1175. General Public License .or any later version. applies to it, you have the
1176. option of following the terms and conditions either of that published version
1177. or of any later version published by the Free Software Foundation. If the
1178. Library as you received it does not specify a version number of the GNU Lesser
1179. General Public License, you may choose any version of the GNU Lesser General
1180. Public License ever published by the Free Software Foundation.
1181. If the Library as you received it specifies that a proxy can decide whether
1182. future versions of the GNU Lesser General Public License shall apply, that
1183. proxy's public statement of acceptance of any version is permanent
1184. authorization for you to choose that version for the Library.

1304. If you want to understand how the JPEG code works, we suggest reading one or
1305. more of the REFERENCES, then looking at the documentation files (in roughly
1306. the order listed) before diving into the code.
  1307. OVERVIEW
  1308. ========
1309. This package contains C software to implement JPEG image encoding, decoding,
1310. and transcoding. JPEG (pronounced "jay-peg") is a standardized compression
  1311. method for full-color and gray-scale images.
1312. This software implements JPEG baseline, extended-sequential, and progressive
1313. compression processes. Provision is made for supporting all variants of these
1314. processes, although some uncommon parameter settings aren't implemented yet.
1315. We have made no provision for supporting the hierarchical or lossless
1316. processes defined in the standard.
1317. We provide a set of library routines for reading and writing JPEG image files,
1318. plus two sample applications "cjpeg" and "djpeg", which use the library to
1319. perform conversion between JPEG and some other popular image file formats.
1320. The library is intended to be reused in other applications.
1321. In order to support file conversion and viewing software, we have included
  1322. considerable functionality beyond the bare JPEG coding/decoding capability;
1323. for example, the color quantization modules are not strictly part of JPEG
1324. decoding, but they are essential for output to colormapped file formats or
1325. colormapped displays. These extra functions can be compiled out of the
1326. library if not required for a particular application.
1327. We have also included "jpegtran", a utility for lossless transcoding between
1328. different JPEG processes, and "rdjpgcom" and "wrjpgcom", two simple
1329. applications for inserting and extracting textual comments in JFIF files.
1330. The emphasis in designing this software has been on achieving portability and
1331. flexibility, while also making it fast enough to be useful. In particular,
1332. the software is not intended to be read as a tutorial on JPEG. (See the
1333. REFERENCES section for introductory material.) Rather, it is intended to
1334. be reliable, portable, industrial-strength code. We do not claim to have
1335. achieved that goal in every aspect of the software, but we strive for it.
1336. We welcome the use of this software as a component of commercial products.
1337. No royalty is required, but we do ask for an acknowledgement in product
1338. documentation, as described under LEGAL ISSUES.
  1339. LEGAL ISSUES
  1340. ============

1345. 3. You may not pretend that you wrote this software. If you use it in a
1346. program, you must acknowledge somewhere in your documentation that
1347. you've used the IJG code.
  1348. In legalese:

1360. unaltered; and any additions, deletions, or changes to the original files
1361. must be clearly indicated in accompanying documentation.
1362. (2) If only executable code is distributed, then the accompanying

1381. by the usual distribution terms of the Free Software Foundation; principally,
1382. that you must include source code if you redistribute it. (See the file
1383. ansi2knr.c for full details.) However, since ansi2knr.c is not needed as part
1384. of any program generated from the IJG code, this does not limit you more than
  1385. the foregoing paragraphs do.
1386. The Unix configuration script "configure" was produced with GNU Autoconf.
1387. It is copyright by the Free Software Foundation but is freely distributable.
1388. The same holds for its supporting scripts (config.guess, config.sub,
1389. ltmain.sh). Another support script, install-sh, is copyright by X Consortium
1390. but is also freely distributable.
1391. The IJG distribution formerly included code to read and write GIF files.
1392. To avoid entanglement with the Unisys LZW patent, GIF reading support has
1393. been removed altogether, and the GIF writer has been simplified to produce
1394. "uncompressed GIFs". This technique does not use the LZW algorithm; the
1395. resulting GIF files are larger than usual, but are readable by all standard
  1396. GIF decoders.
1397. We are required to state that
1398. "The Graphics Interchange Format(c) is the Copyright property of
1399. CompuServe Incorporated. GIF(sm) is a Service Mark property of
  1400. CompuServe Incorporated."
  1401. REFERENCES
  1402. ==========
1403. We recommend reading one or more of these references before trying to
1404. understand the innards of the JPEG software.
1405. The best short technical introduction to the JPEG compression algorithm is
1406. Wallace, Gregory K. "The JPEG Still Picture Compression Standard",
1407. Communications of the ACM, April 1991 (vol. 34 no. 4), pp. 30-44.
1408. (Adjacent articles in that issue discuss MPEG motion picture compression,
1409. applications of JPEG, and related topics.) If you don't have the CACM issue
1410. handy, a PostScript file containing a revised version of Wallace's article is
1411. available at http://www.ijg.org/files/wallace.ps.gz. The file (actually
1412. a preprint for an article that appeared in IEEE Trans. Consumer Electronics)
1413. omits the sample images that appeared in CACM, but it includes corrections
1414. and some added material. Note: the Wallace article is copyright ACM and IEEE,
1415. and it may not be used for commercial purposes.
1416. A somewhat less technical, more leisurely introduction to JPEG can be found in
1417. "The Data Compression Book" by Mark Nelson and Jean-loup Gailly, published by
1418. M&T Books (New York), 2nd ed. 1996, ISBN 1-55851-434-1. This book provides
1419. good explanations and example C code for a multitude of compression methods
1420. including JPEG. It is an excellent source if you are comfortable reading C
1421. code but don't know much about data compression in general. The book's JPEG
1422. sample code is far from industrial-strength, but when you are ready to look
1423. at a full implementation, you've got one here...
1424. The best currently available description of JPEG is the textbook "JPEG Still
1425. Image Data Compression Standard" by William B. Pennebaker and Joan L.
1426. Mitchell, published by Van Nostrand Reinhold, 1993, ISBN 0-442-01272-1.
1427. Price US$59.95, 638 pp. The book includes the complete text of the ISO JPEG
1428. standards (DIS 10918-1 and draft DIS 10918-2).
1429. Although this is by far the most detailed and comprehensive exposition of
1430. JPEG publicly available, we point out that it is still missing an explanation
1431. of the most essential properties and algorithms of the underlying DCT
  1432. technology.
1433. If you think that you know about DCT-based JPEG after reading this book,
1434. then you are in delusion. The real fundamentals and corresponding potential
1435. of DCT-based JPEG are not publicly known so far, and that is the reason for
1436. all the mistaken developments taking place in the image coding domain.
1437. The original JPEG standard is divided into two parts, Part 1 being the actual
1438. specification, while Part 2 covers compliance testing methods. Part 1 is
1439. titled "Digital Compression and Coding of Continuous-tone Still Images,
1440. Part 1: Requirements and guidelines" and has document numbers ISO/IEC IS
1441. 10918-1, ITU-T T.81. Part 2 is titled "Digital Compression and Coding of
1442. Continuous-tone Still Images, Part 2: Compliance testing" and has document
  1443. numbers ISO/IEC IS 10918-2, ITU-T T.83.
1444. IJG JPEG 8 introduces an implementation of the JPEG SmartScale extension
1445. which is specified in a contributed document at ITU and ISO with title "ITU-T
1446. JPEG-Plus Proposal for Extending ITU-T T.81 for Advanced Image Coding", April
1447. 2006, Geneva, Switzerland. The latest version of the document is Revision 3.
1448. The JPEG standard does not specify all details of an interchangeable file
1449. format. For the omitted details we follow the "JFIF" conventions, revision
1450. 1.02. JFIF 1.02 has been adopted as an Ecma International Technical Report
1451. and thus received a formal publication status. It is available as a free
1452. download in PDF format from
  1453. http://www.ecma-international.org/publications/techreports/E-TR-098.htm.
1454. A PostScript version of the JFIF document is available at
1455. http://www.ijg.org/files/jfif.ps.gz. There is also a plain text version at
1456. http://www.ijg.org/files/jfif.txt.gz, but it is missing the figures.
1457. The TIFF 6.0 file format specification can be obtained by FTP from
1458. ftp://ftp.sgi.com/graphics/tiff/TIFF6.ps.gz. The JPEG incorporation scheme
1459. found in the TIFF 6.0 spec of 3-June-92 has a number of serious problems.
1460. IJG does not recommend use of the TIFF 6.0 design (TIFF Compression tag 6).
1461. Instead, we recommend the JPEG design proposed by TIFF Technical Note #2
1462. (Compression tag 7). Copies of this Note can be obtained from
1463. http://www.ijg.org/files/. It is expected that the next revision
1464. of the TIFF spec will replace the 6.0 JPEG design with the Note's design.
1465. Although IJG's own code does not support TIFF/JPEG, the free libtiff library
1466. uses our library to implement TIFF/JPEG per the Note.
  1467. ARCHIVE LOCATIONS
  1468. =================
1469. The "official" archive site for this software is www.ijg.org.
1470. The most recent released version can always be found there in
1471. directory "files". This particular version will be archived as
  1472. http://www.ijg.org/files/jpegsrc.v8c.tar.gz, and in Windows-compatible
1473. "zip" archive format as http://www.ijg.org/files/jpegsr8c.zip.
1474. The JPEG FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) article is a source of some
  1475. general information about JPEG.
1476. It is available on the World Wide Web at http://www.faqs.org/faqs/jpeg-faq/
1477. and other news.answers archive sites, including the official news.answers

  1483. ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
  1484. ===============
1485. Thank to Juergen Bruder for providing me with a copy of the common DCT
1486. algorithm article, only to find out that I had come to the same result
1487. in a more direct and comprehensible way with a more generative approach.
1488. Thank to Istvan Sebestyen and Joan L. Mitchell for inviting me to the
1489. ITU JPEG (Study Group 16) meeting in Geneva, Switzerland.
1490. Thank to Thomas Wiegand and Gary Sullivan for inviting me to the
1491. Joint Video Team (MPEG & ITU) meeting in Geneva, Switzerland.
1492. Thank to John Korejwa and Massimo Ballerini for inviting me to
1493. fruitful consultations in Boston, MA and Milan, Italy.
1494. Thank to Hendrik Elstner, Roland Fassauer, Simone Zuck, Guenther
1495. Maier-Gerber, Walter Stoeber, Fred Schmitz, and Norbert Braunagel
  1496. for corresponding business development.
1497. Thank to Nico Zschach and Dirk Stelling of the technical support team
1498. at the Digital Images company in Halle for providing me with extra
  1499. equipment for configuration tests.
1500. Thank to Richard F. Lyon (then of Foveon Inc.) for fruitful
1501. communication about JPEG configuration in Sigma Photo Pro software.
1502. Thank to Andrew Finkenstadt for hosting the ijg.org site.
1503. Last but not least special thank to Thomas G. Lane for the original
1504. design and development of this singular software package.
  1505. FILE FORMAT WARS
  1506. ================
1507. The ISO JPEG standards committee actually promotes different formats like
1508. "JPEG 2000" or "JPEG XR" which are incompatible with original DCT-based
1509. JPEG and which are based on faulty technologies. IJG therefore does not
1510. and will not support such momentary mistakes (see REFERENCES).
1511. We have little or no sympathy for the promotion of these formats. Indeed,
1512. one of the original reasons for developing this free software was to help
1513. force convergence on common, interoperable format standards for JPEG files.
1514. Don't use an incompatible file format!
1515. (In any case, our decoder will remain capable of reading existing JPEG
  1516. image files indefinitely.)
  1517. TO DO
  1518. =====
1519. Version 8 is the first release of a new generation JPEG standard
1520. to overcome the limitations of the original JPEG specification.
1521. More features are being prepared for coming releases...
1522. Please send bug reports, offers of help, etc. to [email protected].

1782. The Mesa distribution consists of several components. Different copyrights and
1783. licenses apply to different components. For example, GLUT is copyrighted by
1784. Mark Kilgard, some demo programs are copyrighted by SGI, some of the Mesa
1785. device drivers are copyrighted by their authors. See below for a list of Mesa's
1786. main components and the license for each.
1787. The core Mesa library is licensed according to the terms of the MIT license.
1788. This allows integration with the XFree86, Xorg and DRI projects.
1789. The default Mesa license is as follows:

1831. TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR USE, REPRODUCTION, AND DISTRIBUTION
  1832. 1. Definitions.
1833. "License" shall mean the terms and conditions for use, reproduction,
1834. and distribution as defined by Sections 1 through 9 of this document.
1835. "Licensor" shall mean the copyright owner or entity authorized by
1836. the copyright owner that is granting the License.
1837. "Legal Entity" shall mean the union of the acting entity and all
1838. other entities that control, are controlled by, or are under common
1839. control with that entity. For the purposes of this definition,
1840. "control" means (i) the power, direct or indirect, to cause the
1841. direction or management of such entity, whether by contract or
1842. otherwise, or (ii) ownership of fifty percent (50%) or more of the
1843. outstanding shares, or (iii) beneficial ownership of such entity.
1844. "You" (or "Your") shall mean an individual or Legal Entity
1845. exercising permissions granted by this License.
1846. "Source" form shall mean the preferred form for making modifications,
1847. including but not limited to software source code, documentation
  1848. source, and configuration files.
1849. "Object" form shall mean any form resulting from mechanical
1850. transformation or translation of a Source form, including but
1851. not limited to compiled object code, generated documentation,
1852. and conversions to other media types.
1853. "Work" shall mean the work of authorship, whether in Source or
1854. Object form, made available under the License, as indicated by a
1855. copyright notice that is included in or attached to the work
1856. (an example is provided in the Appendix below).
1857. "Derivative Works" shall mean any work, whether in Source or Object
1858. form, that is based on (or derived from) the Work and for which the
1859. editorial revisions, annotations, elaborations, or other modifications
1860. represent, as a whole, an original work of authorship. For the purposes
1861. of this License, Derivative Works shall not include works that remain
1862. separable from, or merely link (or bind by name) to the interfaces of,
1863. the Work and Derivative Works thereof.
1864. "Contribution" shall mean any work of authorship, including
1865. the original version of the Work and any modifications or additions
1866. to that Work or Derivative Works thereof, that is intentionally
1867. submitted to Licensor for inclusion in the Work by the copyright owner
1868. or by an individual or Legal Entity authorized to submit on behalf of
1869. the copyright owner. For the purposes of this definition, "submitted"
1870. means any form of electronic, verbal, or written communication sent
1871. to the Licensor or its representatives, including but not limited to
1872. communication on electronic mailing lists, source code control systems,
1873. and issue tracking systems that are managed by, or on behalf of, the
1874. Licensor for the purpose of discussing and improving the Work, but
1875. excluding communication that is conspicuously marked or otherwise
1876. designated in writing by the copyright owner as "Not a Contribution."
1877. "Contributor" shall mean Licensor and any individual or Legal Entity
1878. on behalf of whom a Contribution has been received by Licensor and
1879. subsequently incorporated within the Work.
1880. 2. Grant of Copyright License. Subject to the terms and conditions of
1881. this License, each Contributor hereby grants to You a perpetual,
  1882. worldwide, non-exclusive, no-charge, royalty-free, irrevocable
1883. copyright license to reproduce, prepare Derivative Works of,
1884. publicly display, publicly perform, sublicense, and distribute the
1885. Work and such Derivative Works in Source or Object form.
1886. 3. Grant of Patent License. Subject to the terms and conditions of
1887. this License, each Contributor hereby grants to You a perpetual,
  1888. worldwide, non-exclusive, no-charge, royalty-free, irrevocable
1889. (except as stated in this section) patent license to make, have made,
1890. use, offer to sell, sell, import, and otherwise transfer the Work,
1891. where such license applies only to those patent claims licensable
1892. by such Contributor that are necessarily infringed by their
1893. Contribution(s) alone or by combination of their Contribution(s)
1894. with the Work to which such Contribution(s) was submitted. If You
1895. institute patent litigation against any entity (including a
1896. cross-claim or counterclaim in a lawsuit) alleging that the Work
1897. or a Contribution incorporated within the Work constitutes direct
1898. or contributory patent infringement, then any patent licenses
1899. granted to You under this License for that Work shall terminate
1900. as of the date such litigation is filed.
1901. 4. Redistribution. You may reproduce and distribute copies of the
1902. Work or Derivative Works thereof in any medium, with or without
1903. modifications, and in Source or Object form, provided that You
  1904. meet the following conditions:
1905. (a) You must give any other recipients of the Work or
1906. Derivative Works a copy of this License; and
1907. (b) You must cause any modified files to carry prominent notices
1908. stating that You changed the files; and
1909. (c) You must retain, in the Source form of any Derivative Works
1910. that You distribute, all copyright, patent, trademark, and
1911. attribution notices from the Source form of the Work,
1912. excluding those notices that do not pertain to any part of
  1913. the Derivative Works; and
1914. (d) If the Work includes a "NOTICE" text file as part of its
1915. distribution, then any Derivative Works that You distribute must
1916. include a readable copy of the attribution notices contained
1917. within such NOTICE file, excluding those notices that do not
1918. pertain to any part of the Derivative Works, in at least one
1919. of the following places: within a NOTICE text file distributed
1920. as part of the Derivative Works; within the Source form or
1921. documentation, if provided along with the Derivative Works; or,
1922. within a display generated by the Derivative Works, if and
1923. wherever such third-party notices normally appear. The contents
1924. of the NOTICE file are for informational purposes only and
1925. do not modify the License. You may add Your own attribution
1926. notices within Derivative Works that You distribute, alongside
1927. or as an addendum to the NOTICE text from the Work, provided
1928. that such additional attribution notices cannot be construed
  1929. as modifying the License.
1930. You may add Your own copyright statement to Your modifications and
1931. may provide additional or different license terms and conditions
1932. for use, reproduction, or distribution of Your modifications, or
1933. for any such Derivative Works as a whole, provided Your use,
1934. reproduction, and distribution of the Work otherwise complies with
1935. the conditions stated in this License.
1936. 5. Submission of Contributions. Unless You explicitly state otherwise,
1937. any Contribution intentionally submitted for inclusion in the Work
1938. by You to the Licensor shall be under the terms and conditions of
1939. this License, without any additional terms or conditions.
1940. Notwithstanding the above, nothing herein shall supersede or modify
1941. the terms of any separate license agreement you may have executed
1942. with Licensor regarding such Contributions.
1943. 6. Trademarks. This License does not grant permission to use the trade
1944. names, trademarks, service marks, or product names of the Licensor,
1945. except as required for reasonable and customary use in describing the
1946. origin of the Work and reproducing the content of the NOTICE file.
1947. 7. Disclaimer of Warranty. Unless required by applicable law or
1948. agreed to in writing, Licensor provides the Work (and each
1949. Contributor provides its Contributions) on an "AS IS" BASIS,
1950. WITHOUT WARRANTIES OR CONDITIONS OF ANY KIND, either express or
1951. implied, including, without limitation, any warranties or conditions
1952. of TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, MERCHANTABILITY, or FITNESS FOR A
1953. PARTICULAR PURPOSE. You are solely responsible for determining the
1954. appropriateness of using or redistributing the Work and assume any
1955. risks associated with Your exercise of permissions under this License.
1956. 8. Limitation of Liability. In no event and under no legal theory,
1957. whether in tort (including negligence), contract, or otherwise,
1958. unless required by applicable law (such as deliberate and grossly
1959. negligent acts) or agreed to in writing, shall any Contributor be
1960. liable to You for damages, including any direct, indirect, special,
1961. incidental, or consequential damages of any character arising as a
1962. result of this License or out of the use or inability to use the
1963. Work (including but not limited to damages for loss of goodwill,
1964. work stoppage, computer failure or malfunction, or any and all
1965. other commercial damages or losses), even if such Contributor
1966. has been advised of the possibility of such damages.
1967. 9. Accepting Warranty or Additional Liability. While redistributing
1968. the Work or Derivative Works thereof, You may choose to offer,
1969. and charge a fee for, acceptance of support, warranty, indemnity,
1970. or other liability obligations and/or rights consistent with this
1971. License. However, in accepting such obligations, You may act only
1972. on Your own behalf and on Your sole responsibility, not on behalf
1973. of any other Contributor, and only if You agree to indemnify,
1974. defend, and hold each Contributor harmless for any liability
1975. incurred by, or claims asserted against, such Contributor by reason
1976. of your accepting any such warranty or additional liability.
1977. END OF TERMS AND CONDITIONS

2117. GNU LIBRARY GENERAL PUBLIC LICENSE
  2118. Version 2, June 1991
2119. Copyright (C) 1991 Free Software Foundation, Inc.
2120. 675 Mass Ave, Cambridge, MA 02139, USA
2121. Everyone is permitted to copy and distribute verbatim copies
2122. of this license document, but changing it is not allowed.
2123. [This is the first released version of the library GPL. It is
2124. numbered 2 because it goes with version 2 of the ordinary GPL.]
  2125. Preamble
2126. The licenses for most software are designed to take away your
2127. freedom to share and change it. By contrast, the GNU General Public
2128. Licenses are intended to guarantee your freedom to share and change
2129. free software--to make sure the software is free for all its users.
2130. This license, the Library General Public License, applies to some
2131. specially designated Free Software Foundation software, and to any
2132. other libraries whose authors decide to use it. You can use it for
  2133. your libraries, too.
2134. When we speak of free software, we are referring to freedom, not
2135. price. Our General Public Licenses are designed to make sure that you
2136. have the freedom to distribute copies of free software (and charge for
2137. this service if you wish), that you receive source code or can get it
2138. if you want it, that you can change the software or use pieces of it
2139. in new free programs; and that you know you can do these things.
2140. To protect your rights, we need to make restrictions that forbid
2141. anyone to deny you these rights or to ask you to surrender the rights.
2142. These restrictions translate to certain responsibilities for you if
2143. you distribute copies of the library, or if you modify it.
2144. For example, if you distribute copies of the library, whether gratis
2145. or for a fee, you must give the recipients all the rights that we gave
2146. you. You must make sure that they, too, receive or can get the source
2147. code. If you link a program with the library, you must provide
2148. complete object files to the recipients so that they can relink them
2149. with the library, after making changes to the library and recompiling
2150. it. And you must show them these terms so they know their rights.
2151. Our method of protecting your rights has two steps: (1) copyright
2152. the library, and (2) offer you this license which gives you legal
2153. permission to copy, distribute and/or modify the library.
2154. Also, for each distributor's protection, we want to make certain
2155. that everyone understands that there is no warranty for this free
2156. library. If the library is modified by someone else and passed on, we
2157. want its recipients to know that what they have is not the original
2158. version, so that any problems introduced by others will not reflect on
  2159. the original authors' reputations.
2160. Finally, any free program is threatened constantly by software
2161. patents. We wish to avoid the danger that companies distributing free
2162. software will individually obtain patent licenses, thus in effect
2163. transforming the program into proprietary software. To prevent this,
2164. we have made it clear that any patent must be licensed for everyone's
2165. free use or not licensed at all.
2166. Most GNU software, including some libraries, is covered by the ordinary
2167. GNU General Public License, which was designed for utility programs. This
2168. license, the GNU Library General Public License, applies to certain
2169. designated libraries. This license is quite different from the ordinary
2170. one; be sure to read it in full, and don't assume that anything in it is
2171. the same as in the ordinary license.
2172. The reason we have a separate public license for some libraries is that
2173. they blur the distinction we usually make between modifying or adding to a
2174. program and simply using it. Linking a program with a library, without
2175. changing the library, is in some sense simply using the library, and is
2176. analogous to running a utility program or application program. However, in
2177. a textual and legal sense, the linked executable is a combined work, a
2178. derivative of the original library, and the ordinary General Public License
  2179. treats it as such.
2180. Because of this blurred distinction, using the ordinary General
2181. Public License for libraries did not effectively promote software
2182. sharing, because most developers did not use the libraries. We
2183. concluded that weaker conditions might promote sharing better.
2184. However, unrestricted linking of non-free programs would deprive the
2185. users of those programs of all benefit from the free status of the
2186. libraries themselves. This Library General Public License is intended to
2187. permit developers of non-free programs to use free libraries, while
2188. preserving your freedom as a user of such programs to change the free
2189. libraries that are incorporated in them. (We have not seen how to achieve
2190. this as regards changes in header files, but we have achieved it as regards
2191. changes in the actual functions of the Library.) The hope is that this
2192. will lead to faster development of free libraries.
2193. The precise terms and conditions for copying, distribution and
2194. modification follow. Pay close attention to the difference between a
2195. "work based on the library" and a "work that uses the library". The
2196. former contains code derived from the library, while the latter only
2197. works together with the library.
2198. Note that it is possible for a library to be covered by the ordinary
2199. General Public License rather than by this special one.
2200. GNU LIBRARY GENERAL PUBLIC LICENSE
2201. TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR COPYING, DISTRIBUTION AND MODIFICATION
2202. 0. This License Agreement applies to any software library which
2203. contains a notice placed by the copyright holder or other authorized
2204. party saying it may be distributed under the terms of this Library
2205. General Public License (also called "this License"). Each licensee is
  2206. addressed as "you".
2207. A "library" means a collection of software functions and/or data
2208. prepared so as to be conveniently linked with application programs
2209. (which use some of those functions and data) to form executables.
2210. The "Library", below, refers to any such software library or work
2211. which has been distributed under these terms. A "work based on the
2212. Library" means either the Library or any derivative work under
2213. copyright law: that is to say, a work containing the Library or a
2214. portion of it, either verbatim or with modifications and/or translated
2215. straightforwardly into another language. (Hereinafter, translation is
2216. included without limitation in the term "modification".)
2217. "Source code" for a work means the preferred form of the work for
2218. making modifications to it. For a library, complete source code means
2219. all the source code for all modules it contains, plus any associated
2220. interface definition files, plus the scripts used to control compilation
2221. and installation of the library.
2222. Activities other than copying, distribution and modification are not
2223. covered by this License; they are outside its scope. The act of
2224. running a program using the Library is not restricted, and output from
2225. such a program is covered only if its contents constitute a work based
2226. on the Library (independent of the use of the Library in a tool for
2227. writing it). Whether that is true depends on what the Library does
2228. and what the program that uses the Library does.
2229. 1. You may copy and distribute verbatim copies of the Library's
2230. complete source code as you receive it, in any medium, provided that
2231. you conspicuously and appropriately publish on each copy an
2232. appropriate copyright notice and disclaimer of warranty; keep intact
2233. all the notices that refer to this License and to the absence of any
2234. warranty; and distribute a copy of this License along with the
  2235. Library.
2236. You may charge a fee for the physical act of transferring a copy,
2237. and you may at your option offer warranty protection in exchange for a
  2238. fee.
2239. 2. You may modify your copy or copies of the Library or any portion
2240. of it, thus forming a work based on the Library, and copy and
2241. distribute such modifications or work under the terms of Section 1
2242. above, provided that you also meet all of these conditions:
2243. a) The modified work must itself be a software library.
2244. b) You must cause the files modified to carry prominent notices
2245. stating that you changed the files and the date of any change.
2246. c) You must cause the whole of the work to be licensed at no
2247. charge to all third parties under the terms of this License.
2248. d) If a facility in the modified Library refers to a function or a
2249. table of data to be supplied by an application program that uses
2250. the facility, other than as an argument passed when the facility
2251. is invoked, then you must make a good faith effort to ensure that,
2252. in the event an application does not supply such function or
2253. table, the facility still operates, and performs whatever part of
  2254. its purpose remains meaningful.
2255. (For example, a function in a library to compute square roots has
2256. a purpose that is entirely well-defined independent of the
2257. application. Therefore, Subsection 2d requires that any
2258. application-supplied function or table used by this function must
2259. be optional: if the application does not supply it, the square
2260. root function must still compute square roots.)
2261. These requirements apply to the modified work as a whole. If
2262. identifiable sections of that work are not derived from the Library,
2263. and can be reasonably considered independent and separate works in
2264. themselves, then this License, and its terms, do not apply to those
2265. sections when you distribute them as separate works. But when you
2266. distribute the same sections as part of a whole which is a work based
2267. on the Library, the distribution of the whole must be on the terms of
2268. this License, whose permissions for other licensees extend to the
2269. entire whole, and thus to each and every part regardless of who wrote
  2270. it.
2271. Thus, it is not the intent of this section to claim rights or contest
2272. your rights to work written entirely by you; rather, the intent is to
2273. exercise the right to control the distribution of derivative or
2274. collective works based on the Library.
2275. In addition, mere aggregation of another work not based on the Library
2276. with the Library (or with a work based on the Library) on a volume of
2277. a storage or distribution medium does not bring the other work under
2278. the scope of this License.
2279. 3. You may opt to apply the terms of the ordinary GNU General Public
2280. License instead of this License to a given copy of the Library. To do
2281. this, you must alter all the notices that refer to this License, so
2282. that they refer to the ordinary GNU General Public License, version 2,
2283. instead of to this License. (If a newer version than version 2 of the
2284. ordinary GNU General Public License has appeared, then you can specify
2285. that version instead if you wish.) Do not make any other change in
  2286. these notices.
2287. Once this change is made in a given copy, it is irreversible for
2288. that copy, so the ordinary GNU General Public License applies to all
2289. subsequent copies and derivative works made from that copy.
2290. This option is useful when you wish to copy part of the code of
2291. the Library into a program that is not a library.
2292. 4. You may copy and distribute the Library (or a portion or
2293. derivative of it, under Section 2) in object code or executable form
2294. under the terms of Sections 1 and 2 above provided that you accompany
2295. it with the complete corresponding machine-readable source code, which
2296. must be distributed under the terms of Sections 1 and 2 above on a
2297. medium customarily used for software interchange.
2298. If distribution of object code is made by offering access to copy
2299. from a designated place, then offering equivalent access to copy the
2300. source code from the same place satisfies the requirement to
2301. distribute the source code, even though third parties are not
2302. compelled to copy the source along with the object code.
2303. 5. A program that contains no derivative of any portion of the
2304. Library, but is designed to work with the Library by being compiled or
2305. linked with it, is called a "work that uses the Library". Such a
2306. work, in isolation, is not a derivative work of the Library, and
2307. therefore falls outside the scope of this License.
2308. However, linking a "work that uses the Library" with the Library
2309. creates an executable that is a derivative of the Library (because it
2310. contains portions of the Library), rather than a "work that uses the
2311. library". The executable is therefore covered by this License.
2312. Section 6 states terms for distribution of such executables.
2313. When a "work that uses the Library" uses material from a header file
2314. that is part of the Library, the object code for the work may be a
2315. derivative work of the Library even though the source code is not.
2316. Whether this is true is especially significant if the work can be
2317. linked without the Library, or if the work is itself a library. The
2318. threshold for this to be true is not precisely defined by law.
2319. If such an object file uses only numerical parameters, data
2320. structure layouts and accessors, and small macros and small inline
2321. functions (ten lines or less in length), then the use of the object
2322. file is unrestricted, regardless of whether it is legally a derivative
2323. work. (Executables containing this object code plus portions of the
2324. Library will still fall under Section 6.)
2325. Otherwise, if the work is a derivative of the Library, you may
2326. distribute the object code for the work under the terms of Section 6.
2327. Any executables containing that work also fall under Section 6,
2328. whether or not they are linked directly with the Library itself.
2329. 6. As an exception to the Sections above, you may also compile or
2330. link a "work that uses the Library" with the Library to produce a
2331. work containing portions of the Library, and distribute that work
2332. under terms of your choice, provided that the terms permit
2333. modification of the work for the customer's own use and reverse
2334. engineering for debugging such modifications.
2335. You must give prominent notice with each copy of the work that the
2336. Library is used in it and that the Library and its use are covered by
2337. this License. You must supply a copy of this License. If the work
2338. during execution displays copyright notices, you must include the
2339. copyright notice for the Library among them, as well as a reference
2340. directing the user to the copy of this License. Also, you must do one
  2341. of these things:
2342. a) Accompany the work with the complete corresponding
2343. machine-readable source code for the Library including whatever
2344. changes were used in the work (which must be distributed under
2345. Sections 1 and 2 above); and, if the work is an executable linked
2346. with the Library, with the complete machine-readable "work that
2347. uses the Library", as object code and/or source code, so that the
2348. user can modify the Library and then relink to produce a modified
2349. executable containing the modified Library. (It is understood
2350. that the user who changes the contents of definitions files in the
2351. Library will not necessarily be able to recompile the application
2352. to use the modified definitions.)
2353. b) Accompany the work with a written offer, valid for at
2354. least three years, to give the same user the materials
2355. specified in Subsection 6a, above, for a charge no more
2356. than the cost of performing this distribution.
2357. c) If distribution of the work is made by offering access to copy
2358. from a designated place, offer equivalent access to copy the above
2359. specified materials from the same place.
2360. d) Verify that the user has already received a copy of these
2361. materials or that you have already sent this user a copy.
2362. For an executable, the required form of the "work that uses the
2363. Library" must include any data and utility programs needed for
2364. reproducing the executable from it. However, as a special exception,
2365. the source code distributed need not include anything that is normally
2366. distributed (in either source or binary form) with the major
2367. components (compiler, kernel, and so on) of the operating system on
2368. which the executable runs, unless that component itself accompanies
  2369. the executable.
2370. It may happen that this requirement contradicts the license
2371. restrictions of other proprietary libraries that do not normally
2372. accompany the operating system. Such a contradiction means you cannot
2373. use both them and the Library together in an executable that you
  2374. distribute.
2375. 7. You may place library facilities that are a work based on the
2376. Library side-by-side in a single library together with other library
2377. facilities not covered by this License, and distribute such a combined
2378. library, provided that the separate distribution of the work based on
2379. the Library and of the other library facilities is otherwise
2380. permitted, and provided that you do these two things:
2381. a) Accompany the combined library with a copy of the same work
2382. based on the Library, uncombined with any other library
2383. facilities. This must be distributed under the terms of the
  2384. Sections above.
2385. b) Give prominent notice with the combined library of the fact
2386. that part of it is a work based on the Library, and explaining
2387. where to find the accompanying uncombined form of the same work.
2388. 8. You may not copy, modify, sublicense, link with, or distribute
2389. the Library except as expressly provided under this License. Any
2390. attempt otherwise to copy, modify, sublicense, link with, or
2391. distribute the Library is void, and will automatically terminate your
2392. rights under this License. However, parties who have received copies,
2393. or rights, from you under this License will not have their licenses
2394. terminated so long as such parties remain in full compliance.
2395. 9. You are not required to accept this License, since you have not
2396. signed it. However, nothing else grants you permission to modify or
2397. distribute the Library or its derivative works. These actions are
2398. prohibited by law if you do not accept this License. Therefore, by
2399. modifying or distributing the Library (or any work based on the
2400. Library), you indicate your acceptance of this License to do so, and
2401. all its terms and conditions for copying, distributing or modifying
2402. the Library or works based on it.
2403. 10. Each time you redistribute the Library (or any work based on the
2404. Library), the recipient automatically receives a license from the
2405. original licensor to copy, distribute, link with or modify the Library
2406. subject to these terms and conditions. You may not impose any further
2407. restrictions on the recipients' exercise of the rights granted herein.
2408. You are not responsible for enforcing compliance by third parties to
  2409. this License.
2410. 11. If, as a consequence of a court judgment or allegation of patent
2411. infringement or for any other reason (not limited to patent issues),
2412. conditions are imposed on you (whether by court order, agreement or
2413. otherwise) that contradict the conditions of this License, they do not
2414. excuse you from the conditions of this License. If you cannot
2415. distribute so as to satisfy simultaneously your obligations under this
2416. License and any other pertinent obligations, then as a consequence you
2417. may not distribute the Library at all. For example, if a patent
2418. license would not permit royalty-free redistribution of the Library by
2419. all those who receive copies directly or indirectly through you, then
2420. the only way you could satisfy both it and this License would be to
2421. refrain entirely from distribution of the Library.
2422. If any portion of this section is held invalid or unenforceable under any
2423. particular circumstance, the balance of the section is intended to apply,
2424. and the section as a whole is intended to apply in other circumstances.
2425. It is not the purpose of this section to induce you to infringe any
2426. patents or other property right claims or to contest validity of any
2427. such claims; this section has the sole purpose of protecting the
2428. integrity of the free software distribution system which is
2429. implemented by public license practices. Many people have made
2430. generous contributions to the wide range of software distributed
2431. through that system in reliance on consistent application of that
2432. system; it is up to the author/donor to decide if he or she is willing
2433. to distribute software through any other system and a licensee cannot
  2434. impose that choice.
2435. This section is intended to make thoroughly clear what is believed to
2436. be a consequence of the rest of this License.
2437. 12. If the distribution and/or use of the Library is restricted in
2438. certain countries either by patents or by copyrighted interfaces, the
2439. original copyright holder who places the Library under this License may add
2440. an explicit geographical distribution limitation excluding those countries,
2441. so that distribution is permitted only in or among countries not thus
2442. excluded. In such case, this License incorporates the limitation as if
2443. written in the body of this License.
2444. 13. The Free Software Foundation may publish revised and/or new
2445. versions of the Library General Public License from time to time.
2446. Such new versions will be similar in spirit to the present version,
2447. but may differ in detail to address new problems or concerns.
2448. Each version is given a distinguishing version number. If the Library
2449. specifies a version number of this License which applies to it and
2450. "any later version", you have the option of following the terms and
2451. conditions either of that version or of any later version published by
2452. the Free Software Foundation. If the Library does not specify a
2453. license version number, you may choose any version ever published by
  2454. the Free Software Foundation.
2455. 14. If you wish to incorporate parts of the Library into other free
2456. programs whose distribution conditions are incompatible with these,
2457. write to the author to ask for permission. For software which is
2458. copyrighted by the Free Software Foundation, write to the Free
2459. Software Foundation; we sometimes make exceptions for this. Our
2460. decision will be guided by the two goals of preserving the free status
2461. of all derivatives of our free software and of promoting the sharing
2462. and reuse of software generally.
  2463. NO WARRANTY
2464. 15. BECAUSE THE LIBRARY IS LICENSED FREE OF CHARGE, THERE IS NO
2465. WARRANTY FOR THE LIBRARY, TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW.
2466. EXCEPT WHEN OTHERWISE STATED IN WRITING THE COPYRIGHT HOLDERS AND/OR
2467. OTHER PARTIES PROVIDE THE LIBRARY "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY
2468. KIND, EITHER EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, THE
2469. IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR
2470. PURPOSE. THE ENTIRE RISK AS TO THE QUALITY AND PERFORMANCE OF THE
2471. LIBRARY IS WITH YOU. SHOULD THE LIBRARY PROVE DEFECTIVE, YOU ASSUME
2472. THE COST OF ALL NECESSARY SERVICING, REPAIR OR CORRECTION.
2473. 16. IN NO EVENT UNLESS REQUIRED BY APPLICABLE LAW OR AGREED TO IN
2474. WRITING WILL ANY COPYRIGHT HOLDER, OR ANY OTHER PARTY WHO MAY MODIFY
2475. AND/OR REDISTRIBUTE THE LIBRARY AS PERMITTED ABOVE, BE LIABLE TO YOU
2476. FOR DAMAGES, INCLUDING ANY GENERAL, SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL OR
2477. CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF THE USE OR INABILITY TO USE THE
2478. LIBRARY (INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DATA OR DATA BEING
2479. RENDERED INACCURATE OR LOSSES SUSTAINED BY YOU OR THIRD PARTIES OR A
2480. FAILURE OF THE LIBRARY TO OPERATE WITH ANY OTHER SOFTWARE), EVEN IF
2481. SUCH HOLDER OR OTHER PARTY HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH
  2482. DAMAGES.
2483. END OF TERMS AND CONDITIONS
2484. Appendix: How to Apply These Terms to Your New Libraries
2485. If you develop a new library, and you want it to be of the greatest
2486. possible use to the public, we recommend making it free software that
2487. everyone can redistribute and change. You can do so by permitting
2488. redistribution under these terms (or, alternatively, under the terms of the
  2489. ordinary General Public License).
2490. To apply these terms, attach the following notices to the library. It is
2491. safest to attach them to the start of each source file to most effectively
2492. convey the exclusion of warranty; and each file should have at least the
2493. "copyright" line and a pointer to where the full notice is found.
2494. <one line to give the library's name and a brief idea of what it does.>
  2495. Copyright (C) <year> <name of author>
2496. This library is free software; you can redistribute it and/or
2497. modify it under the terms of the GNU Library General Public
2498. License as published by the Free Software Foundation; either
2499. version 2 of the License, or (at your option) any later version.
2500. This library is distributed in the hope that it will be useful,
2501. but WITHOUT ANY WARRANTY; without even the implied warranty of
2502. MERCHANTABILITY or FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. See the GNU
2503. Library General Public License for more details.
2504. You should have received a copy of the GNU Library General Public
2505. License along with this library; if not, write to the Free
2506. Software Foundation, Inc., 675 Mass Ave, Cambridge, MA 02139, USA.
2507. Also add information on how to contact you by electronic and paper mail.
2508. You should also get your employer (if you work as a programmer) or your
2509. school, if any, to sign a "copyright disclaimer" for the library, if
2510. necessary. Here is a sample; alter the names:
2511. Yoyodyne, Inc., hereby disclaims all copyright interest in the
2512. library `Frob' (a library for tweaking knobs) written by James Random Hacker.

2860. OSSP uuid - Universally Unique Identifier
  2861. Version 1.6.2 (04-Jul-2008)
  2862. ABSTRACT
2863. OSSP uuid is a ISO-C:1999 application programming interface (API)
2864. and corresponding command line interface (CLI) for the generation of
  2865. DCE 1.1, ISO/IEC 11578:1996 and IETF RFC-4122 compliant Universally
2866. Unique Identifier (UUID). It supports DCE 1.1 variant UUIDs of version
2867. 1 (time and node based), version 3 (name based, MD5), version 4
2868. (random number based) and version 5 (name based, SHA-1). Additional
2869. API bindings are provided for the languages ISO-C++:1998, Perl:5 and
2870. PHP:4/5. Optional backward compatibility exists for the ISO-C DCE-1.1
  2871. and Perl Data::UUID APIs.
2872. UUIDs are 128 bit numbers which are intended to have a high likelihood
2873. of uniqueness over space and time and are computationally difficult
2874. to guess. They are globally unique identifiers which can be locally
2875. generated without contacting a global registration authority. UUIDs
2876. are intended as unique identifiers for both mass tagging objects
2877. with an extremely short lifetime and to reliably identifying very
2878. persistent objects across a network.
