  1. Linden Research, Inc. ("Linden Lab") Viewer FLOSS License Exception v0.5
  2. The Linden Lab Exception for Free/Libre and Open Source Software-only
  3. Applications Using Linden Lab Viewer Software (the "FLOSS Exception").
  4. Exception Intent
  5. Linden Lab is releasing the source code for certain software that
  6. enables users to view or otherwise access the Second Life virtual
  7. world environment (the "Viewer Software"), under version 2 of the GNU
  8. General Public License (the "GPL"). The creation or distribution of
  9. works based on the Program (as defined under the GPL) of the Viewer
  10. Software may require the use of certain Free/Libre and Open Source
  11. Software ("FLOSS") works that are subject to license agreements not
  12. compatible with re-licensing under the GPL. Because we want to allow
  13. the Viewer Software to be distributed with these FLOSS works, this
  14. FLOSS Exception following exception applies subject to the terms and
  15. conditions below.
  16. Legal Terms and Conditions
  17. As a special exception to the terms and conditions of version 2.0 of
  18. the GPL:
  19. You are free to distribute a work based on the Program that is formed
  20. entirely from the Viewer Software (and any modifications thereof) and
  21. one or more works that are independent and separate works not derived
  22. from the Viewer Software, and are licensed under one or more of the
  23. licenses listed below in section 1 (each, a "FLOSS Work") , as long
  24. as:
  25. A. You obey the GPL in all respects for the Viewer Software and any
  26. work based on the Program, except for the FLOSS Works, for which
  27. you must comply with B below,
  28. B. all FLOSS Works,
  29. i. are distributed subject to one of the FLOSS licenses
  30. listed below, and
  31. ii. the object code or executable form of the FLOSS Works are
  32. accompanied by the complete corresponding
  33. machine-readable source code for those FLOSS Works on the
  34. same medium and under the same FLOSS license as the
  35. corresponding object code or executable forms thereof,
  36. and
  37. C. any works that are aggregated with the Viewer Software or a work
  38. based on the Program on a volume of a storage or distribution
  39. medium in accordance with the GPL, and are not licensed under
  40. the FLOSS licenses listed below, are independent and separate
  41. works in themselves which are not derivatives of either the
  42. Viewer Software, a work based on the Program or a FLOSS Work.
  43. If the above conditions are not met, then the Viewer Software may only
  44. be copied, modified, distributed or used under the terms and
  45. conditions of the GPL or another valid licensing option from Linden
  46. Lab.

  84. This FLOSS Exception applies to all Viewer Software files that contain

  86. distributed under the terms of this FLOSS Exception. If you create or
  87. distribute a work which is a work based on the Program for the Viewer
  88. Software and any other work licensed under the GPL, then this FLOSS
  89. Exception is not available for that work; thus, you must remove the
  90. FLOSS Exception notice from that work and comply with the GPL in all
  91. respects, including by retaining all GPL notices. You may choose to
  92. redistribute a copy of the Viewer Software exclusively under the terms
  93. of the GPL by removing the FLOSS Exception notice from that copy of
  94. the Viewer Software, provided that the copy has never been modified by
  95. you or any third party.
